Overview

Customizing the design of your eBook is an essential step in ensuring that it looks polished and professional. In For Posterity’s Production, you can personalize multiple design elements, including the book’s orientation, cover design, text formatting, and additional content like a prologue or epilogue. This guide will walk you through each customization step.

Step 1: Accessing the eBook Design Settings

Once you have selected your eBook for production, you will be directed to the Production Dashboard. From here, you can access different customization options.

  1. Navigate to the Production Dashboard by clicking on your eBook project.
  2. Select the Book Settings tab on the left panel to begin customizing the layout.

Step 2: Choosing Your eBook Layout

The first step in customizing your eBook design is selecting the Orientation and Page Size to match your storytelling style.

  • Orientation: Choose between Portrait (taller pages, ideal for reading on mobile devices) or Landscape (wider pages, suitable for visuals or graphic-heavy content).
  • Page Size: Select a standard size to optimize readability across different devices.

Pro Tip: If your book contains a lot of images, a landscape layout may work better to enhance their visibility.

Step 3: Designing Your eBook Cover

Your cover is the first impression your readers will have of your eBook. Customizing it properly ensures your book looks professional.

  1. Click on Cover Design from the left-side menu.
  2. Upload a high-resolution image for your book cover. Accepted formats include JPG, PNG, and PDF.
  3. Enter your Book Title and Author Name in the designated fields.
  4. Adjust the position and alignment of your text if needed.

Best Practices:

  • Use an image that reflects the theme or tone of your book.
  • Keep the text clear and readable by ensuring good contrast between the background and text color.

Step 4: Customizing Text and Page Styling

To ensure readability, you can personalize text settings, including font styles and sizes.

  1. Go to the Text Settings section.
  2. Choose from a variety of fonts to match your book’s tone (e.g., serif fonts for traditional storytelling, sans-serif for modern styles).
  3. Adjust the font size to make the text easy to read.
  4. Select a paper color for the background of your eBook pages to improve visual comfort.

Tip: For longer eBooks, choose a font that reduces eye strain, such as Times New Roman or Arial.

Step 5: Adding Personalized Content

You can enhance your eBook by including a Prologue, Epilogue, or a Personalized Note on the back cover.

  • Prologue: Introduce the reader to the background of the story or provide important context.
  • Epilogue: Give closure to your story with a final message or reflection.
  • Back Cover Personalization: Add a personal note, dedication, or signature for a unique touch.

Note: Personalized back cover content is optional, but it adds a meaningful touch, especially for memoirs and legacy books.
